trickybonmot’s offerings:

trickybonmot Auction #1

Organizations this auction benefits: Bidder's choice of any of the listed groups (See full list.)

Type of fanwork: Written
Subtype(s): Remix
Fandom(s): Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed
Highest rating: E (Explicit)
Length/scope: Less than 5k words

Especially interested in: I write a lot of wangxian, but I also enjoy Jiang Cheng-centric fics, and I enjoy chengxian, zhancheng, and zhanchengxian! I'm a sucker for all forms of pining. I love confession scenes and sex scenes, and pining-while-having-sex scenes. I love all these characters' relationships to grief and mourning and trauma and struggles with self worth. I'm also very willing to have a go at rarer pairs! I mostly write in modern AU but can do canon, fantasy, sci fi, crossovers, etc.

Unwilling to address: I'm not that into JGY or Xue Yang (sorry). I'm not that into xicheng (again, sorry). I don't enjoy engaging with stories centered on rape or heavy whump. Not interested in sick fic. (Hurt/Comfort in general is fine, though!) Not very into mpreg unless something else interesting is going on. There are some kinks I don't like but I'm actually pretty open, so please ask if you are in doubt.

Notes: I would love to remix a fic: one of yours, one of mine, or one where the author has given permission! This could look like: exploring the story from a different character's POV, moving the story into (or out of) an AU, writing about the events leading up to or following the story, filling in gaps, or writing a divergent version of the story (for example, what if a character had made a different decision at a crucial point?). I've committed to a low wordcount but I will write as much as I need to to complete the project! That said, I might not be up for reading stories over about ~100k for purposes of this prompt.

Special Interests: Unhappy endings, Ambiguous endings

Minimum Bid: $5

Auctions run from 8:00AM EST, 1 March 2023, to 8:00PM EST, 5 March 2023. Bids before or after this period are invalid and will not be counted. If you would like to bid on this auction:

Step 1: Check the bidding spreadsheet to find out what the current high bid is. (Note: It may take up to five minutes for a bid to appear.)

Step 2: Fill out the creator's bidding form with a bid that is higher than the current high bid. If you want to make it harder for someone to outbid you, bid higher! We will NOT notify you if someone outbids you. If you would like to track changes to this bidding sheet, select Tools -> Notification Settings. Email notifications may not be immediate, so we do not recommend relying on them near the end of the auction period. Bookmark this sheet so you can check it manually. FTH will only notify you if you are the high bidder after the auctions end.

trickybonmot Auction #2

Organizations this auction benefits: Bidder's choice of any of the listed groups (See full list.)

Type of fanwork: Video
Fandom(s): Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed
Highest rating: E (Explicit)
Length/scope: I will make a minimum one minute edit using the song you select and focusing on the characters, scenes, or ideas that interest you from CQL/The Untamed. (Note this offer does NOT include the MDZS donghua.)

Especially interested in: I'm up for anything!

Unwilling to address: For this prompt I have no limits, although if your song is very hard to listen to we may need to figure something out.

Notes: If your song is not commercially downloadable or is unusually expensive, you will need to provide an audio file.

Minimum Bid: $5

trickybonmot Auction #3

Type of fanwork: Fan labor
Subtype(s): Betaing
Fandom(s): Mo Dao Zu Shi / The Untamed
Highest rating: E (Explicit)
Length/scope: 10 - 20k words

Experience: In addition to writing my own fics, I regularly beta fics for friends! I also have one (1) professionally published short story.

Notes about Labor offered: I would love to help you polish a fic, from correcting typos and fixing awkward wording to working out larger problems. I would love to work with an ESL writer, too! I take an encouraging approach and will always tell you what I like as well as what's not working for me.

Unwilling to address: Please no fics centered on rape or its aftermath or heavy violence/whump. I'm okay with most kinks but please ask if in doubt.

Special Interests: Unhappy endings, Ambiguous endings

Minimum Bid: $5

Tips for using tags and searches

The easiest way to find the auction(s) you want to bid on is to use our tags!

How our tag system works:

Finding Your Fandom

If you’re looking for a particular fandom, you can find the full FTH tag list here. If it has a tag, it means that the fandom is on offer this year! The tags are arranged in alphabetical order, but you can also ctrl+F (or command+F for macs) to search for the name within the taglist. Your fandom not listed at all? Try Fandom: Any to find people who will create in literally any fandom you want.

A few things to keep in mind as you search for your fandom: It's often better to search for one or two key words than an entire fandom name, in case you call it something slightly different from what we called it. There is a character limit on tags, so some fandoms have to be abbreviated, and some non-English fandoms are under only their English or non-English name instead of both. Be sure to search anything we might have used! All fandoms that start with "The" have had "the" removed to make alphabetizing more uniform. For example, if you are looking for The Boys, you'll find it under "fandom: boys".

How nested subfandoms work: Some fandoms with many branches are broken up into subfandoms. You can see this reflected in the nesting on the tags page. In all of these cases, the auctions are tagged with both the subfandoms chosen and the larger fandom. So if you're looking specifically for Captain America auctions, check MCU: Captain America (along with MCU: Any, MCU: Avengers, and MCU: All MCU Movies). If you're looking for everyone offering MCU of any kind, look under the main MCU tag, where you will find everyone who chose at least one MCU subfandom. If you're looking for people who are offering to create in a subfandom you don't see listed, or a combination of subfandoms others aren't offering, you should look at MCU: Any and Fandom: Any.

In general, if a tag doesn't specify a date or type of media, you can assume that any media that might fall under that fandom name is included. Remember, though, that whatever the tags say, the creator is only being held to what is in their auction text. If the tag is a general one that might apply to a book or a movie, and they say they are only interested in book canon, don't expect them to write about the movie.

Finding a Creator
If you’re looking for a particular creator, keep scrolling down the taglist until you get to the username: tag category. Within this tag you will find all of the 2023 FTH creators, who are tagged with the preferred pseudonym that they provided. Similarly, instead of scrolling down till you find the creator you’re after, you can simply ctrl+F (or command+F for macs) the name once you are in the taglist to find whether they have joined FTH this year or not. If you do not see someone who you think should be listed, check with them in case they gave us a different pseudonym than you know them by.

Types of Fanworks

All posts are tagged according to the type of fanwork being offered: written fanworks, fan art, podfic, video, fan labor, or other digital fanwork. If you scroll beneath the fandoms on the tag page (or just ctrl-F the word "fanwork"), you'll find the fanwork tags.

Written fanworks, fan art, and fan labor are also broken down by the subtype(s) the creator is offering! You can look just at everyone offering book covers, for example, or culture picking. Just like with subfandoms, you can still see everyone offering every subtype when you click on the written, fan art, or fan labor tags. You can combine these subtype tags with fandom tags just like the other fanwork types, as explained in the next section!

Note that fanfiction is now a subtype of written fanwork! Unlike previous years, the fanfic tag is not "fanwork: fanfiction" - it is now fanwork: written: fanfiction!

Searching Multiple Tags
If you’re looking for a specific category of auctions such as E-rated Harry Potter fanfiction, or for auctions in multiple fandoms, for example fanart that is being offered in the Supernatural fandom or the Doctor Who fandom, try filtering by multiple tags. Dreamwidth does enable searching in this way; the trick is to separate the individual tags in the URL with commas. For example, let’s search for particular Star Wars auctions:

The ?mode=all option is necessary for making those last three combinations work. With it, you will get only auctions that are podfics and rated explicit and in the Star Wars fandoms. Without it, you will get all explicit auctions plus all Star Wars auctions plus all podfic auctions. Using it without ?mode=all finds everything with one tag or the other. This can be useful if you are a fan of both Sherlock Holmes and Teen Wolf, as it means that you can look through all the offers for both fandoms without having to switch tag search. However, it is important to use the option if you are trying to narrow your search to certain parameters.

Keep in mind that some posts will have multiple auctions, so your fandom might be tagged for only one of them while your other search term is tagged for one of the other auctions. Always read the post carefully and contact the creator with any questions before bidding!

Special Interest Tags

Last year we introduced Special Interest tags to make it easier for bidders who are interested in certain topics and types of stories that are less common/popular to find creators who are especially interested in working with those topics.

When creators signed up, they were given the option to choose from a list of special interest tags, which can be used just like our fanwork, fandom, and ratings tags (and combined with them as above) to help bidders find the creators who are the best match for their interests.

The interests we included this year are:
  • f/f pairings
  • Poly ships
  • Genderswap/genderbending
  • Canonically trans or nonbinary characters
  • Trans or nonbinary readings of canon characters
  • Racial or cultural experiences of nonwhite characters
  • Racebending
  • Unhappy endings
  • Ambiguous endings.
You'll find these under special: in the tags list.

These don't mean that those are the only things that creator is willing to create, so if you're not looking for any of these things don't let that discourage you from bidding on creators who use them! And just because a creator didn't use a tag doesn't mean they're unwilling to address that topic (unless it says so elsewhere in their auction). These are just a tool to try and help bidders who are really excited about certain topics find the creators who are just as excited about them.

If a creator has more than one auction, be sure they've listed the Special Interests under the auction you want! They may enjoy writing poly ships for one fandom but not another, or betaing unhappy endings but not writing them.

Let us know if you have any questions! If you are a creator and you believe your auction has been mistagged (or contains any other errors), please email us at fandomtrumpshate @ gmail.com and be sure to include the username you're signed up under.
